Review Article:Designing of Smart Textiles

Shivam Trivedi, Savita Malik

Abstract

Nanomaterials used in Industry will be a great change in market. Material like silver nanoparticles is going to enhance properties of finished product. For textile industry, there are several nanomaterials which have their specific properties to introduce new products like yarns, fabrics, coatings with different amazing properties like antimicrobial, water repellent, antidust, antiwrinkle, etc. Nanomaterials are widely used in textile industries. They are used to design fabric with properties of our choice. These fabrics are exclusively used for different industries like medical, electronics, footwear, etc. Here in this paper we sum up, all such properties along with the nanomaterial responsible for it. There is also a brief description of methods of application and mechanism by which nanomaterials acts on the fabric. We have also tried to review the toxicity of the nanomaterials used in the textile-industry.

Keywords: Ag NPs, Antimicrobial property, ZnO NPs, UV Resistant Property, Hydrophobic Property, CNTs Electrical Conductivity
