Future of Periodontics: Nanotechnology

Neetha J. Shetty

Abstract

Nanodentistry is the latest addition to the advances in the field of dentistry. Nanoparticles in various forms such as rods, fibers and spheres have been utilized in different branches of dentistry and medicine. Preventive dentistry has also utilized nanodentistry to develop the nanomaterials for inclusion in a variety of oral health-care products. Periodontics also has started utilizing nanotechnology in the form of nanodentifrices, nanobone graft particles etc. This article is a sincere effort in compiling the present status and future directions for the use of nanoparticles in Periodontics.
