Root Cause Analysis and Maintenance in Mechanical Systems

Nikhil Dev

Abstract

Due to lots of noise and failures in transmission system, for maintaining the status of products and services provided by any organisation it is very much necessary to improve the failure parts. The mechanism that transmits the power developed by engine of automobile to the engine to the driving wheel is called the Transmission System and it includes Clutch System, Gear Transmission System and Differential system. In the present work data from the field survey is presented and analysed. From the results it is found that lubricating oil contamination, degradation and quantity are the major reason of noise and vibration. By controlling the parameters presented in this work life of a tractor is enhanced and maintenance cost is lowered. Keywords: Failure, Maintenance, Root cause, mechanical system, automobile etc.
