Drug Regulatory System in India

Abstract


Drug and medicine, both are interchangeably used in medical science. Moreover, drug is a broad term which cover its implication in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure, while medicine is confined with clinical cure of a patients. Thus, drug is not always a bad thing as advertise by media and movie. However, abuse of some illicit drug is responsible for addiction, a reason behind its critics. Drug regulatory system is measures enforced by the Government to ensure that all medical products must follows standards of safety, efficacy, and quality. The medical products are manufactured and distributed in a way, which ensure the quality till they reached to consumers. It also watches their commercial promotion. Consumer is prime concern in healthcare system, and this is right to facilitate the availability of safer and effective drugs. Thus, drug regulatory measures keep evolving with advance in technology in the field of drug discovery & their production technique. Overall, the aims of Indian Drug regulatory system are to safeguard the Indians from drug & cosmetics by framing rules as well as schedules.
