Biomedical Waste Management: A Review
Abstract
Management of biomedical waste requires commitment at all the levels from healthcare providers. In the system, which is managed by untrained and irresponsible staff, the importance and risks are dreaded. Even among qualified medical personnel, including hospital administrators, private and governmental institutes, hospitals and colleges, the awareness for the rules of disposal of biomedical waste need to be taught. People have very minimal knowledge about the hazards of biomedical waste and the toxins related to it. These have a major impact on public health and the environment in which we are living. So, in order to reduce the menace related to biomedical waste, the level of training and the education about biomedical waste management should be improved for better results.
