INFLUENCE OF PROCESS PARAMETERS IN BLANKING USING ANSYS EXPLICIT DYNAMICS

Abstract


The shearing process such as the blanking of sheet metals has been used often to prepare work pieces for subsequent forming operations. In the current literature it prescribes a model investigation of the effect of process parameters influencing the blanking process on the part edge quality of blanked parts. The blanking process model, simulation and optimization are carried out by using CATIA V5R20, explicit dynamics with ANSYS package. The objective of the present work is to analyze the blanking process for different sheet materials, percentage of punch-die clearances, sheet thickness and punch fillets. The results of computer simulations can be used to forecast quality of the final parts optimization.
