Calculate the natural frequencies with Cracked for Hybrid Unidirectional Composite Plate

Haneen Hasan, Luay Sadiq Al-Ansari

Abstract

A mathematical model was built by using ANSYS (2D, 3D) models and MATLAB to represent composite materials. The natural frequencies were calculated for  type of composite plates with of boundary conditions clamped from each edge (CCCC). In the vibration analysis, the finite element and MATLAB results showed there was an increase in the first, second and third  natural frequencies by increasing the volumetric fraction of the fiber. In the cracked plate, there was slightly decrease in the first, second, and third natural frequencies with increase of the volumetric fraction of fiber in 2D ANSYS simulation while there was no effect of Crack Relative Length on the natural frequencies simulated by 3D ANSYS simulation at different values of fiber volume fraction. Rather than, there was a good convergence between 2D and 3D simulation compared with MATLAB analysis when the Boundary Conditions is CCCC.
