Synthesis and Production of Innovative Energetic Materials

Abstract

Energetic materials such as explosives, propellants and pyrotechnics are used world widely for civilian and military applications. There are research programs worldwide to develop pyrotechnics with reduced smoke and new explosives and propellants with higher performance or improved insensitivity to thermal or shock insults. In current years, the synthesis of energetic and heterocyclic compounds have received a great amount of interest. Heterocycles generally have a higher heat of formation, density, and oxygen balance than their carbocyclic analogues. This review will focus on modern developments in the synthesis of energetic materials and will balance the excellent review of recent advances in energetic materials.
