Abstract

Mathematical model was developed to examine the effect of angular momentum of an electron in an Orbital. The Lamor procession and vector of angular momentum function of the S,P orbitals revealed increase in the angular momentum with increase in orbital. The trend on spd orbital in terms of angular momentum shows the same behaviors as well as spdf orbital. The quantum angular momentum shows that the energy of the system is a contributing factor to the characteristics of the classical system and the quantum mechanical system of the principal shells. The research work demonstrates the energy level quantum as a dependent of principal shell levels. The orbital angular momentum for an atomic electron can be visualized in terms of a vector model where the angular momentum vector is seen as processing about a direction in space.
