Corrosion Inhibitors for Steel Appliances

Inhibitors of corrosion in stainless steels are based on alloy developments. Effects of various alloy elements are to form passive film on surfaces under corrosive conditions. Tendency of passive film formation has rendered stainless steel to be applicable for any sector except bio-medical purposes. Line pipe of flow lines and gathering lines are suggested to use conventional carbon steel pipe with cost effective inhibitors. Duel phase stainless steels or improved martensitic stainless steels are referred after keeping view of life cycle costs as an alternative. Stainless steel welding joints are characteristically a cast zone always require extra attention in response to composition, treatment and developments. Toxic and nontoxic inhibitors are used as additive in welding electrodes to reduce corrosion.References
