Abstract

In this work, we report the structural morphology, optical properties and photocatalytic activity of polymer capped zinc indium selenide nanoparticles, which have been synthesized by solvothermal method. PVA is acted as capping agent. The PVA capped zinc indium selenide nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, SEM with EDAX, AFM, TEM and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The structural properties of PVA capped zinc indium selenide nanoparticles have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The XRD patterns show a Rhombhohedral crystal structure. The surface morphology of the nanoparticles was analyzed by SEM and AFM analysis. Absorption spectra have been obtained using UV-Vis spectroscopy to find the optical band gap. In addition, photocatalytic degradation of methyl red in aqueous solution was performed using PVA capped zinc indium selenide nanoparticles under the illumination of UV light. Various parameters affecting the degradation performance such as contact time, catalyst dosage, initial dye concentrations and pH were examined Keywords Photocatalysis, Polymer, Methyl red, Zinc Indium Selenide nanoparticles, Dye degradation.
