Review on Harvesting Energy from CO2 and its Importance in Afghanistan

Marzia Wafaee, Maryam Mohammadi, Sangar Begzaad

Abstract

In all over the world, increasing of demands for energy and increasing of air pollution are important challenges these days. To overcome with these challenges, scientists are conducting several researches. As we know among the greenhouse gases CO2 has the greatest amount. There are two technologies CCS and CCUS to deal with these problems. In this article, we try to introduce one way in each technology. It means that describing the O2-assisted Al/CO2 electrochemical cells in CCUS technology and introducing Supercritical Carbon dioxide (s-CO2) cycle for CCS technology. These technologies would be beneficial for those countries like Afghanistan to try these ways for reducing and producing energy from CO2.

Key words: producing energy, removing CO2, O2-assisted Al/CO2 electrochemical cells, CCUS, s-CO2 cycle, CCS.
