Neurobionics: A Short Review

Abstract

Prosthetic limbs can be connected directly to the nervous system. Bioengineers are finding out ways to do this. Brain can control the prosthetic arms/ hands movements through two way communication, which also allows the brain to sense its presence. This would include building an adapter cord that can translate the nerve impulses from the brain into electrical signals in the artificial arm and vice-versa. Recent research is closing the gap between nanotechnology and tissue engineering. This article is a brief review on the different advances in this field.
