Nature of Obstetric Emergency Health Services in India
Abstract
From past itself, the maternal mortality rate had been a complex problem in India. Reports have shown that since 1990, maternal mortality rate has been falling with regional variations. Although, 18% of global maternal deaths take place in India, still the country has seen a steady decline in maternal mortality. But the high maternal mortality rate in India is still a complex problem. The nature of obstetric emergency services provided by the health department play a major role in determining the maternal health outcomes. Many studies have been conducted on nature obstetric emergency care in India, but there are limited studies focusing on the search as well as implementation of solutions for improving obstetric emergency services. Researches on such problems may further improve the obstetric emergency services thus leading to reduction in MMR.
