Evaluation of Response Characteristics of Distillation Column

Ukpaka C. P., Juliet Belema Gift-Onyesoh

Abstract

In this paper mathematical model was developed to monitor, predict and control the effectiveness of the controller designed with the principle of various responses. The result obtain in the investigation demonstrate the usefulness of input, ramp, and impulse response in monitoring, predicting and controlling the separation of the distillate product from the reflux for effective performance evaluation of the distillation column. The model evaluated the impact of feed tray, reboiler and the reflux drum characteristic of the process upon the performance evaluation of the controller. The result obtained illustrates the usefulness of the developed model in production optimization and controlling the distillate product separation from the distillation column.
